For the 10th consecutive year, Robinson’s Rescue is celebrating its mission and donors at the annual Best in Sheaux fundraiser, this year from the newly renovated and stunning Marlene Yu Museum. In honor of our partnership with this artistic institution, our theme this year is “Art of the Dog”!
This year’s Best in Sheaux fundraiser is set to take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 6:30–9:30 PM at the Marlene Yu Museum, located in the historic YWCA building at 710 Travis Street in downtown Shreveport.
At this all-about-dogs event, any dog can be a show dog and you are the judge of the competition. This year 20 local dogs, all different breeds and backgrounds, will walk the runway and compete for the title of Best in Sheaux, which is determined by community votes. In true Louisiana style, at this competition you pay for your votes. Each vote is $5 and 100% of the proceeds go to Robinson’s Rescue. Every vote counts and helps this organization get one step closer to reaching their $100,000.00 fundraising goal.
Robinson’s Rescue uses the funds raised through events like Best in Sheaux to provide free and low-cost spay/neuter services to pets of North Louisiana as well as education on the importance of spay/neuter to local residents. Spay/neuter has proven to be the most effective, humane means of decreasing pet overpopulation and Robinson’s Rescue is visibly decreasing our community’s pet overpopulation through their spay/neuter programs. By supporting fundraisers like Best in Sheaux, you too are helping Robinson’s Rescue to decrease pet overpopulation in North Louisiana.
In honor of our theme and our partnership with the Rainforest Art Foundation and Marlene Yu Museum, we have put together a juried art show, which will be unveiled to the public on the night of Best in Sheaux. It will continue to hang in the museum until May 1 and features local artists, who responded to the simple mandate of “Art of the Dog.”
Another unique aspect Best in Sheaux is the raffle and silent auction. This year, Robinson’s Rescue will be raffling off 3 amazing packages, which include gift cards to area restaurants, vouchers for personal pampering, and tickets to exciting local events! In addition, Best in Sheaux will include a silent auction with prizes like a Wheelbarrow of Wine and a stunning pair of Konstantino earrings generously donated by Lee Michaels Jewelry. In keeping with our Art of the Dog theme, we also have a professionally framed print from the master of Louisiana Dog Art himself, George Rodrigue!
Finally, guests at the 10th annual Best in Sheaux fundraiser can enjoy complimentary Great Raft beer, wine, and our signature Pink Poodle Martinis made with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, as well as a cash bar, a catered dinner by Fairfield Bed and Breakfast, and much more.
